I'm back and I brought some friends!

Hello again! 2 years after I first started a little blog known to its friends as ILTT, I'm starting again on a new blog, but this time I've brought some friends! Well, one, right now, but the other is hopefully not far behind. That now sounds like I only have 2 friends. That's not true...honest :(

So, to recap and paraphrase what I said over 2 years ago, I'm not saying that I'll always know the latest hot tune, but when I find something I like, I'll post about it here. As I tend not to have much time for trawling other blogs, chances are what I post isn't what everyone else is posting about. Conversely, something I post may have been posted about in the blogosphere months ago, but I'll try to avoid that where possible.

Right now, I'm STILL liking the tech house and electro genre, so MY posts will mostly - if not totally exclusively - be about tech house or electro tunes.

Going forward, we'll each be posting about tunes, mixes, blogs, and other stuff that we like. Each of us has slightly differing tastes, but we also crossover quite nicely as well, which means that when you come to our blog we're bound to be posting something you'll like, or something you'll grow to like. The other posters will be introducing themselves over the coming days as well. And here's to a slightly longer life than ILTT had.

So, where to start? It's been a long time in dance music since I last posted regularly, and having looked back over the archives of ILTT I can see how my tastes have moved along little since I first started posting. As the likes of Richard Dinsdale and Christian Hoff started going more minimal on me, I've looked to the likes of Micky Slim and others to show me what I liked. and boy, did they ever!

To show you where I've been in the last year, here's a mix I did recently (back in June) that is a pretty good indication of what my tastes are right now.

  1. JoJo "Cookin" Kincaid - Q106 San Diego, 1989
  2. Cameo - "Word Up" (Dirty South Remix) [Unknown]
  3. Calvertron - "Filter" (Original Mix) [Mutate To Survive]
  4. Bass Kleph - "Bump Uglies" (Stupid Fresh "Wizards In Oz" Mix) [Vacation Records]
  5. Nick Supply - "HizNHiz" (Original Mix) [Static Jack]
  6. Speaker Junk - "Scratch Up The Music" (Original Mix) [Speaker Junk Recordings]
  7. HiJack - "Shimmy" (Original Mix) [Potty Mouth Music]
  8. Nic Sarno - "Watch This" (HiJack Remix) [Jack Union Records]
  9. DJ Dan - "Chop Shop" (Macca Remix) [InStereo Recordings]
  10. CJ Bolland - "Sugar is Sweeter" (Twocker Remix) [Unknown]
  11. 30hz ft. Yolanda - "Daddio" (Miles Dyson Remix) [Lot49]
  12. Stupid Fresh - "Get The F**k Up" [vacation Records]
  13. Robb G - "12 Inch Therapy" (Bass Kleph Dirty Ows Mix) [Promo Records]
  14. Ed Kane, Filthy Rich & Will Bailey pres. The UK House Gangsters - "It's About Time" [Control Freq]
  15. Aston Shuffle - "For Everyone" (Stupid Fresh Remix) [Hussle Recordings]
  16. OnePhatDeeva - "In And Out Of My Life" (Acapella)
  17. Jaksaw - "New Jack Heights" (Dirty Inc Remix) [Nitrous Records]
  18. The Loose Cannons - "What Have You Done 4 Me Lately?" (Flytip Johnson Remix) [Government Records]
  19. Futuristic Fly - "Futuristic Fly" (Bryan Cox Remix) [Crux Records]
  20. Benjamin Bates - "Two Flies" (Paolo Jackson Remix) [Big & Dirty]
  21. WDP Project vs Cyril Sneerz Hit Squad - "I Wanna Give You Devotion" (Will Bailey Remix) [Unknown]

You'll notice on the left hand column, that there's a list of tracks I'm liking right now, which I'll endevour to keep updated. I can't tell you how hard it was to keep that list down to a manageable 5, so I'll list another 5 here right now that I'm really bloody loving right now.
  • Micky Slim - Hit The Club [Heavy Feet Remix] (Bombsquad Records)
  • Jackinori - "Ba Bada" [2 Bit Thugs Remix] (A New Hope Records)
  • DJ Dan & Donald Glaude - "Stick Em" [Jeff T and TJR Remixes] (inStereo Recordings)
  • Alex Schmitz - "Beat Goes Boom" [Original Mix] (Bombsquad Records)
  • Karton - Never Too Late [Original Mix] (Vacation Records)
As you'll no doubt see over the coming weeks and months, I'm really into the likes of Stupid Fresh, Bass Kleph, Calvertron, Will Bailey, Twocker, Micky Slim, Fake Blood, Miles Dyson, DJ Dan, anything on Crux, Bombsquad or Vacation Records, so you'll know what you're going to get from me on here. The only variation on that theme is my love of deadmau5. His productions are stunning, from his lush progressive house tracks (collaborations with Kaskade, etc) to his heavier dirtier efforts while remixing Calvin Harris and Tom Neville.

Anyway, to get back into the original ILTT format, here's a quick track for you to check out:

Arno Cost & Arias - "Magenta" [Eric Prydz Unreleased 'Chariots of Fire' Vocal Mix] (Unknown)

This track has evolved a couple of times, and each time I've liked it more. The original Magenta track was a great tune, but then Dave Spoon remixed it, and I liked it all over again. Then Eric Prydz took the Dave Spoon remix, added another complimenting bassline, and threw a pella over it, and turned it into a great building set track. Why he included the chariots of fire samples is anyone's guess though, but it's excusable, just, depending on when you're dropping it into your set.

Wow, that turned out to be a longer introduction that I intended, but what the hell :)
